The Hitachi-no-Kuni Fudoki is a gazetteer of the province of Hitachi, modern Ibaraki Prefecture, in the early eighth century. It contains a substantial number of myths from the area, and this essay, the second of two, covers myths about conflicts with kami, a child of a kami in the form of a snake, local legends about Yamato Takeru, and a handful of shorter tales.
